Meersbrook Equine Therapy - Equine Sports Massage for YOUR horse
Equine Sports Massage Therapy

Equine Sports Massage Therapy is the therapeutic application of professional sports massage techniques applied to the horse.  The techniques used are; Effluerage, Compression, Tapoment and Skin Rolling, along with Passive Stretching to manipulate the soft tissues of the body.  All therapists have a thorough understanding of anatomy and the interaction of bones, joints and muscles and looks at the horse as a whole and attempts to consider all the possible causes and effects of any tension whille interpreting the horse's reaction and expressions.

The primary cause of muscular injury is muscular tension, the rate at which this recovers can be improved by increasing circulation and therefore reduce the tension.  Prompt action to the 'minor' muscular injuries can prevent the development of the more serious problems due to the horse 'compensating'.

The Veterinary Act

Under the Veterinary Act 1966, any treatment carried out by a therapist must have a Veterinary consent.  Therefore before treating your horse I will have to get written consent from your vet.  This simply means, I will fax over a consent form to your vet, and they will fax consent back, usually this does not delay your appointment.
